UHCL AlumNight welcomes all

University of Houston-Clear Lake alumni and community friends are invited to attend the university’s AlumNight at HomeTown Bank of Pearland, Oct. 9, 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. Reconnect with old friends and meet new ones while learning about the latest UH-Clear Lake AlumNight. Learn more about public events sponsored by the UHCL Alumni Association, such as the Clear Lake Association of Senior Programs, which sponsors free lectures, including a daytime speaker series offered in Pearland.

The association produces two newsletters available to the public. UHCL’s eConnections and Your UHCL provide up-to-date information about art gallery exhibitions, film and speaker presentations, career services and the many other university events open to the public. Both e-newsletters are offered by the Office of Alumni and Community Relations and are free to all.

Broadcasts share leadership skills

Three encouraging speakers share their knowledge and experience in live broadcasts at UH-Clear Lake and UH-Clear Lake Pearland Campus Oct. 1, Oct. 15 and Oct. 29, 6-7:30 p.m.  The broadcast will be presented in the UHCL Student Services and Classroom Building Lecture Hall, 2700 Bay Area Blvd., Houston and room 111 at UHCL Pearland Campus, 1200 Pearland Parkway, Pearland, 77581.

Kevin Bracy, an experienced speaker, author and entrepreneur, presents “Chasing Greatness and Leading the Way” on Oct. 1. Bracy, who has shared his message at high schools and colleges across the country, encourages listeners to overcome limiting beliefs and accomplish seemingly impossible things despite hardships they have endured. The encore presentation will be held Oct. 9, noon – 1:30 p.m. in the same location at UH-Clear Lake.

Other events include a presentation on Oct. 15 of “The Greatness in You,” led by Common, a Grammy Award-winning hip-hop artist and actor. On Oct. 29, Robert Stevenson will address the topic “How to Soar like an Eagle in a World Full of Turkeys.”

All three events are part of a National Society of Leadership and Success series offered by the university’s Student Leadership, Involvement and Community Engagement program. EqualiTea meetings discusses issues for LGBT community

Lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community members and LGBT Allies are invited to EqualiTea, Oct. 7, 5 – 6 p.m., at UH-Clear Lake, 2700 Bay Area Blvd., Houston, 77058, Student Services and Classroom Building, room 1.203.

EqualiTea provides an opportunity to learn about issues relevant to the LGBT community in a supportive atmosphere. No registration or fee is required.
