Exhibition highlights ‘50 Years, 50 Stories, 50 Faces’ in Clear Lake

50Years Faces Stories-Graphic
University of Houston-Clear Lake will honor the Clear Lake Area Chamber of Commerce and the legends who helped build the Clear Lake area when it hosts the “50 Years, 50 Stories, 50 Faces” exhibition running Nov. 14-21 in the university’s Bayou Building, Atrium I.

“We’re excited about having this incredible exhibition that salutes so many significant people in the history of Clear Lake,” said UHCL Coordinator of Outreach and Communications Mindi Funderburg, who volunteered her talents by designing a book to accompany the project. “We hope you will stop by the university and learn about several key leaders in this community.”

Those highlighted in the exhibitions include such Clear Lake leaders as Joe Mayer, Bob Scott, Sandy Johnson and Evelyn Stebbins. With each photo comes a brief story about the contributions each person made to the area.

Photographer and UHCL Associate Vice President for University Advancement Dion McInnis shot the photos and wrote the bios that are also available in book form through the chamber.

“I had completed only about six of the interviews when a simple, clear lesson was already coming into focus,” said McInnis while working on the project. “The Clear Lake area is truly a story of pioneering.”

Those unable to attend the event will get the opportunity to purchase the book for $75 by ordering it online at http://www.blurb.com/bookstore/detail/3681967 after Nov. 13.
