Awards for faculty, staff presented at special luncheon
Honoring the hard work of many employees, University of Houston-Clear Lake recognized the achievements of faculty and staff during the 35th Annual Faculty & Staff Awards Presentation in early April. UH-Clear Lake President William A. Staples, Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost Carl A. Stockton and Vice President for Administration and Finance Michelle Dotter presented 128 faculty and staff with service awards.

University of Houston-Clear Lake President William A. Staples presented his annual Report to the Community in late March at Lakewood Yacht Club. During the breakfast event, Staples also honored the recipient of the 2013 Community Partnership Award – the Clear Lake Area Chamber of Commerce.

UHCL Assistant Professor William Hoston has worked in the education field for 16 years, getting his first teaching job at Florida State University when he was 23. After those early teaching experiences, Hoston said he knew that he'd chosen the right career path.

UHCL receives $1 million grant from Houston Endowment
To prepare for its first freshman and sophomore students, University of Houston-Clear Lake has received much-needed support through a $1 million grant from Houston Endowment for a proposal highlighting the university’s four-year initiative. The payments will be presented in two $500,000 increments in March 2013 and 2014 and will assist UH-Clear Lake by extending services and support for the first- and second-year students.
