University of Houston-Clear Lake
On second reference, UH-Clear Lake or UHCL is preferred. (Note that only a single standard hyphen is used on the first and second references, and no hyphen or slash is used in the acronym. There are no spaces before or after the hyphen.)
 
University of Houston-Clear Lake Pearland Campus
On second reference, UH-Clear Lake Pearland Campus or UHCL Pearland Campus is preferred. (Note that only a single standard hyphen is used on the first and second references, and no hyphen or slash is used in the acronym. There are no spaces before or after the hyphen.) 
 
University of Houston System Nomenclature
 
University of Houston System
On second reference, UH System is preferred. (Please don’t hyphenate, viz. UH-System.) UHS is recommended as an adjective but not a noun. The name refers to the four-university system comprised of University of Houston, University of Houston-Clear Lake, University of Houston-Downtown, and University of Houston-Victoria.

Graduate wants to turn island research into book

After Hurricane Ike ransacked so many Galveston historic landmarks, graduate student Claiborne Fant focused beyond the damage to photograph a remarkable recovery. Fant, now a graduate of the University of Houston-Clear Lake’s program in professional writing and graphic design, hopes the photographs and research she assembled for her master’s project will become a published book. The work would be a tribute to the can-do spirit of the island.

No tuition hike next year for UHCL students

UH-Clear Lake students and their families got some good news when the University of Houston System Board of Regents met this past week – their undergraduate tuition will stay at its current rate for the next school year.
